About

OUR VISION

We believe that home organization and design is an opportunity to make life more beautiful. With a vision that organization + interior design can be approachable and aesthetically-driven, A Good Home has become a go-to for those on the Connecticut Shoreline who are looking to make their spaces orderly and attractive.

How It All Started

Chelsea Wade founded A Good Home in 2017. After years working as a executive and personal assistant, Chelsea realized that nearly everyone desires varying degrees of organization within their homes, but the time commitment and a skilled approach prevented most from achieving it. The journey started with a full-service home organization business, and the goal in starting A Good Home was to reinvent functional organizing and merge it with design. She began by creating aspirational organizational designs for clients in their homes, and made them more approachable through sharing, teaching, and taking her online followers along on the journey. Over time, our services expanded into interior design as well, and nearly all of our projects include aspects of both.

Spreading Our Wings

Then came A Good Home Market in 2020. The market originated as a platform to sell and re-home our clients’ unwanted furnishings and housewares as a more sustainable and feel-good option than the “Goodwill drop-off”. The market gave secondhand home furnishings and housewares a new life to those looking for high-end contemporary pieces for a fraction of retail. The first several markets took place in an 1805 post-and-beam barn at the AGH Farmhouse in Lyme, and we soon established regular spring and fall markets. In addition to our clients consigned items, the market has expanded to include our own sourced vintage and found goods as well as limited edition new pieces. In December 2023, we began regularly offering online “drops” on our Instagram page for those looking to shop AGH Market year-round.

Expanding Our Voice

Over time, A Good Home has become a go-to source for organization and interior design inspiration on the Connecticut Shoreline and beyond. We are often asked “Where is that from?” and “How can I get that look?”, and it gave us the inspiration to create an online blog with details and sources for our large projects, personal projects, and also applicable organization and design content. With a mission to make organization and interior design more approachable, our blog gave us more opportunities to share, and now I was able to offer tips and tricks with the support of product recommendations we had used throughout the years that I knew our audience could trust. So, in Spring 2022 we launched our blog, At A Good Home, and through this platform we are able to reach so many more homes and also continue to grow.

New Beginnings

Creating our own unique perspective in the organizing and design industry is so invigorating. Over time, we’ve continued to expand our design voice beyond client projects into personal projects like the AGH Farmhouse and the AGH Lake House. In May 2023, we opened our first guest-stay accommodations, Stay At A Good Home with The Farmhouse Stay in Haddam after a two-year full-scale renovation of a 1790 cape farmhouse.

From client projects and pop-up markets to blog posts and real estate ventures, one thing has and will always remain consistent to A Good Home: my passion is to empower people to enhance their daily life through my mission to make life more beautiful.

Born from the idea that good organization is meant to be incorporated with great design, I created A Good Home to bring form and function into homes everywhere. Whether you’ve been following along for years now or are brand new to the community, I’m so grateful that you are here.
